Building Wellness, Housing & Health, Stronger Together: A Collaborative Toolkit

Building Wellness, Housing and Health, Stronger Together: A Collaborative Toolkit for First Nations Communities was developed to strengthen collaboration between the health and housing sectors in First Nations communities. Recognizing that safe, healthy housing is a foundational determinant of health and wellness, this practical resource supports communities in building stronger partnerships that lead to more coordinated, culturally grounded, and community-driven services.

Designed as an introductory "101" guide, the toolkit helps communities and organizations:

  • Build stronger connections between housing and health programs and services.
  • Learn from successful approaches and promising practices already being implemented in First Nations communities.
  • Apply First Nations values, knowledge systems, and strengths-based approaches to planning and service delivery.
  • Access practical templates, tools, models, and step-by-step guidance to support frontline workers, managers, leadership, and community planners.

More than just a resource, the toolkit is intended to spark meaningful conversations, foster collaboration across sectors, and create a shared understanding of how housing and health can work together to improve community wellness.

For those ready to deepen their knowledge, the toolkit also connects readers with additional "201-level" resources, providing opportunities to continue learning, strengthen local capacity, and advance collaborative approaches that support healthier First Nations communities.
