Understanding the First Nations health landscape is essential for current and emerging health leaders, managers, and professionals working to strengthen health and wellness outcomes in First Nations communities.
Course 100: The First Nations Health Landscape provides learners with a comprehensive introduction to the historical, cultural, political, social, and health-system factors that shape First Nations health today. Through interactive learning, group discussion, practical activities, and opportunities to connect with peers, learners will develop a stronger understanding of the environment in which First Nations health managers work and lead.
This course is designed to help learners explore the complex relationships between history, culture, governance, health systems, determinants of health, epidemiology, public health, and partnerships, and consider how these factors influence the delivery of health services and the health and wellness of First Nations communities.

Experience the Intensive Learning Environment
The Intensive course format offers learners an immersive, in-person learning experience designed to support deeper engagement, collaboration, and connection.
Over five days, learners will have opportunities to:
- Connect and network with fellow First Nations health professionals and leaders.
- Participate in interactive group work and enhanced discussions.
- Receive on-site support throughout the course.
- Take part in an orientation session to prepare for the learning experience.
- Access assignment support sessions with an FNHMA Capacity Developer.
- Receive ongoing guidance and support from their instructor.
- Apply course concepts through discussion, reflection, and collaborative learning.
The Intensive format creates space to learn not only from the course content and instructor, but also from the experiences and perspectives of fellow learners.

Intensive Course Fees
FNHMA Members: $2,300 CAD
Non-Members: $2,875 CAD
Course fees include all required learning materials.
Travel, accommodations, meals, and other personal expenses are not included in the course fee.
