EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Education Coordinator

The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) is seeking an efficient, personable, technologically savvy and well-organized professional for the position of Education Coordinator. FNHMA is a not-for-profit national professional association involved in expanding health management capacity for First Nations. FNHMA provides leadership in First Nation health management activities by developing and promoting quality standards, practices, research, certification, networking, and professional development to expand capacity for our members and First Nations.


Scope of Position

Reporting to the Manager of Education (MOE) and working closely with the Education Team and MoE, the Education Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative functions of the Certified First Nations Health Managers (CFNHM) Program, and other professional development workshops. The Education Coordinator will work with the Education Team to support the delivery of other workshops and programs as required. The Education Coordinator is also responsible for supporting the online learning platform and assisting the Education Team with ongoing curriculum and program improvements.

The FNHMA has a strong team approach to the delivery of all its programs and services. The Membership/Education Coordinator will work within a team environment undertaking the following activities and responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct administrative and coordination support to the Certification Program and other professional development workshops, including:

  • First point of contact with all current and potential students.

  • Registering students for courses, including coordinating invoicing with finance for course fees.

  • Supporting Instructors with course learning platform and classroom administration.

  • Coordinating certificates of completion and sending out grades.

  • Preparing student materials for courses/ workshops.

  • Coordinating meeting logistics for intensive courses/ workshops.

  • Assisting with scheduling and overseeing the certification exam.

  • Ensuring students have access to the online teaching platform, learning tools and resources.

  • Providing trouble shooting support to students working on the online platform.

  • Ensuring the education policy is adhered to.

  • Supporting relevant internal policy development.

  • Supporting research activities related to curriculum development.

  • Managing the FNHMA database (contact app).

  • Occasional travel to support FNMHA booths at conferences and tradeshows.

  • Performing other related duties that support FNHMA’s program and operational function as assigned by the MoE.


Qualifications and Skills
  • Applicants must possess at least a diploma or certificate in administration studies (or equivalent post-secondary completion), or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Two or more years of similar experience, preferably with First Nation organizations/audiences.

  • Strong computer literacy skills, specifically:

  • Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), or equivalents.

  • Effective online search skills.

  • Comfort working in a variety of web-based platforms (e.g. Google; Canva; Moodle) and confidence in ability to learn new platforms as needed is required.

  • Demonstrated records management experience.

  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Must have strong client relations experience in working with external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, including working under tight timeframes.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong writing skills and oral communication skills (primarily in English).


Asset Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/French) as well as fluency/familiarity with First Nation languages.

  • Experience with research.

  • Experience supporting adult learners.

 

Salary Range: $55,000 - $67,500 and benefits package

Term: Permanent
