The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager of Programs to lead, oversee and enhance our programs and project areas. The role is critical in ensuring all initiatives align with the mission, values and strategic direction of FNHMA.
The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, a strong leader and a champion of First Nations health management. They role model and uphold the Seven Teachings: trust, respect, honour, honesty, humility, courage, and truth by demonstrating integrity and competency across all programs and projects.
The FNHMA is a not-for-profit national professional association involved in expanding health management capacity for First Nations. The FNHMA provides leadership in First Nation health management activities by developing and promoting quality standards, practices, research, certification, networking, and professional development to expand capacity for our members and First Nations.
Job Summary and Core Competencies
The Manager of Programs provides strategic leadership in the planning, management, and evaluation of all FNHMA programs and projects, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and the needs of First Nations health service delivery.
The Manager is responsible for overseeing financial resources, ensuring program budgets comply with annual targets and auditing standards, and applying sound knowledge of FNHMA’s human resources policies and practices. They lead a culture of continuous improvement, guide the development of proposals and discussion papers for the Board of Directors and committees (including the Treasury Board), and ensure all initiatives support FNHMA’s strategic plan and funding requirements. Additionally, the Manager oversees stakeholder communications and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Services.
Qualifications and Skills
A bachelor’s degree in business management, organizational design and development, Administration or related field as often required. Currently posing, or committed to earn, the Certified First Nations Health Manager Designation (CFNHM), Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) or Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) and the Project Management designation would be an asset.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant career experience in program/project management with leadership and supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of program and project development, monitoring, and evaluation.
Experience working in a public sector funding environment including, producing proposals for government funding programs, management of funds received, reporting on the use of funds received in accordance with common government funding agreements and common public sector accounting practices.
Experience in budgeting, resource management, and compliance within an educational setting.
Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
Outstanding organization and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
English is the working language; however, the ability to work in both official languages or an Indigenous language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $94,500 - $114,500, including comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, pension plan, generous paid-time off incentives, and professional development support.
