The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) is pleased to welcome you back for the next session in our Fireside Chat series, continuing important conversations that support stronger, safer, and more responsive health systems for First Nations communities.
Fireside Chat #2 - Mental Health & Addictions: COVID Response and the Opioid Epidemic will take place Thursday, February 19, from 11:00 - 12:00 PM (ET) and will be hosted virtually by FNHMA CEO Marion Crowe, alongside Nicole Robinson, Director of Northern Indigenous Health at Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC).
This Fireside Chat will explore the mental health and addictions response during COVID-19 at both federal and provincial levels, examining what worked, where gaps remain, and what lessons can be carried forward. The discussion will also ask critical questions about whether similar large-scale supports exist (or should exist) for mental health services today, and how First Nations communities have been impacted by and responded to the ongoing opioid epidemic.
Through real-world insight, system-level perspectives, and community-informed dialogue, this session will highlight opportunities to strengthen culturally safe mental health supports, improve coordination of care, and advocate for sustained investments that meet community needs beyond crisis moments.
Health leaders, frontline workers, partners, and community members are encouraged to attend and take part in this important conversation.
Registration is required, so be sure to save your spot and join us for an engaging hour of reflection, learning, and shared solutions as we continue advancing health equity and wellness for First Nations communities.
A recording of this Fireside Chat series will be available for viewing on the FNHMA video Library.
